The Minnesota Twins Report to Spring Training in 32 Days – January 10th, 2026

2026 Countdown to Minnesota Twins Baseball - 32, 41, 75 & 83 Days

We’re counting down the days until Minnesota Twins baseball returns for the 2026 season. We can’t wait to see more Minnesota Twins baseball! We’re just 32 days away from the Minnesota Twins reporting for Spring Training!

Minnesota Twins OF Dan Gladden from 1987-1991

We are 32 or Dan Gladden Days away from the Twins reporting to #SpringTraining on February 11th.

  • Dan Gladden is one of seven Minnesota Twins to play on both the 1987 & 1991 Minnesota Twins World Series Champion teams.* He was the primary left fielder for the Twins during his 5 seasons with them (1987-1991). Of course, those 5 seasons started & ended with a World Championship. He’s been a Minnesota Twins radio analyst since 2000.
*Do you know who the other 6 are?

How do the Minnesota Twins look in left field for 2026?

They currently have 10 outfielders on their 40-man roster. Three of those 10 are prospects who’ve yet to make their MLB Debuts (Gabriel Gonzalez, Hendry Mendez & Emmanuel Rodriguez). 1 of them, recently acquired Ryan Kreidler* has played SS more than CF. That leaves 6 outfielders: CF Byron Buxton, LF/RF/DH Trevor Larnach, LF/CF/2B Austin Martin, OF James Outman, OF Alan Roden & RF Matt Wallner.
*Pittsburgh, huh? Made me think if new manager Derek Shelton had anything to say about this claim but he wasn’t hired until 15 days later but… he was a free agent so maybe the Twins called to ask about him.

I’d go with Austin Martin in left, Byron Buxton in center & Matt Wallner in right. Outman/Roden will be the 4th outfielder & I would lean Outman so Roden can play every day at AAA but that will play out in the spring. Maybe the Twins will move one of those guys or injuries could happen too.

Prospects we might see during the 2026 season are Walker Jenkins (AAA) & Kala’i Rosario (AA).

Is RHP Joe Ryan the ace of the Twins starting rotation?

Is Joe Ryan the ace of the Minnesota Twins starting rotation?

41 or Joe Ryan Days til the 1st Spring Training game. RHP starting pitcher Joe Ryan, acquired along with RHP Drew Strotman* from TB for DH Nelson Cruz & Calvin Faucher,** has turned into a top of the rotation starting pitcher for the Twins. Some people think he’s the ace of the Minnesota Twins starting staff. Joe arguably has the best fastball in the league for starting pitchers. Does that make him the ace, though? Pablo López definitely has something to say about that.
*Strotman played in the Mexican League in 2025
**Faucher is currently a Miami Marlin

No Minnesota Twins player has ever worn jersey number 75

75 days til Opening Day. No Twins player has worn 75. Former Twins who have worn it after leaving the Twins are 1B/OF Trey Cabbage and pitchers Dietrich Enns, Chris Vallimont* & David Hale.
*Vallimont’s claim to fame for Twins fans is he came to them as part of the trade to acquire reliever RHP Sergio Romo, he of the legendary 2019 Twins postseason celebration

RHP Griffin Jax wore 83 in his rookie season

83 or Griffin Jax Days til ⚾ at Target Field again! Griffin Jax, now w/TB, is the only Twins play to wear 83. He wore in his rookie season in 2021 when he started 14 of the 18 games he appeared in. He came in as a reliever in his first 4 appearances. He was hit hard in that first season so it’s amazing to see how far he’s come to be one of the best relievers in the game. Sadly, he’s now a Tampa Bay Ray after being traded during the fire sale last season.

It’s also sad because relief pitching is arguably the Minnesota Twins biggest need for the 2026 season.

See ya tomorrow, TwinsTakers!!!
