Tsuyoshi Nishioka fractures fibula in collision at second base

Great! So the injuries happen early! Do they slide like that in Japan because it looked like Nishioka wasn’t prepared for that?

Tsuyoshi Nishioka‘s rough first week with the Twins got considerably worse this afternoon, as he suffered a fractured fibula when Nick Swisher slid hard into second base to break up a potential double play. No details yet on a return timetable or roster replacement, but Nishioka will be out for at least a month and Luke Hughes seems like the obvious fill-in as the Twins’ already thin infield depth gets even thinner.
